Wisdom From An Eight Year Old

Tonight, we had Family Night.  Homemade pizza, donuts, and Wii competitions.  I organized the brackets for the tournament, and we had playoffs in boxing and bowling.

Rachel, with her wild swings, solidly won the boxing title.  She is tough!

The bowling championship came down to Caleb and Rachel.  Both of them scored 179 in their first games, so the competition was stiff.  Caleb was throwing strike after strike, and Rachel, worn out from her thrashing of Lauren in the boxing ring, was not doing as well as she had done earlier in the night.  By the fifth frame, Caleb was showing off.

I warned him not to be prideful.  Then little Rachel said, “Yeah, take it from me.  You’re trying to be a superstar, but you’ll end up being a falling star.”

I asked her where she had heard that.  She grinned, “I made it up just now.”

Hmmm.  I think there is a nugget of wisdom in that.

I love it when the kids come up with things like that. I have two little girls 4 and 5, and they continue to amaze me with the wisdom that they pass back and forth. We are truly blessed.

    Take care,
    Tom

  3. That’s great. Sounds like a great competition too!

  4. Rindy, it was a very fun competition. Until my 4 year old knocked me out in boxing. . . . But I got over it. 🙂
