You may notice the new bright yellow box in my sidebar. It’s not that I’m bragging about how rich I am, and it’s certainly not that I’m any richer than the rest of you. Probably, I’m not. But I recently learned that the vast majority of the world lives on less than $5,000 a year. Three billion people live on less than $2 a day, and 1.3 billion people live on less than $1 a day. We’ve just cut our income nearly in half and we’re still in the top 7% of the world’s wealthiest people.
Just think, I have running water — both hot and cold. I have two vehicles. I have a house with heat and air conditioning. I have plenty of food, and a variety at that! We eat fruits and vegetables that were grown all over the world. We actually have trouble deciding which outfit to wear most days. We have electrical appliances galore — a washer, a dryer, a vacuum, a dishwasher, a mixer, a refrigerator, an oven, a toaster, and more. Each person in my home has his own bed and pillow. We are rich!
Now that I know how rich I am, maybe it will be easier for me to share some of that wealth. If you want to know how rich you are, click on the link in my sidebar to visit the Global Rich List. Once you find out how rich you are, maybe you’ll want to share some more of your wealth too!
