Thankfulness

I have been inspired by Holly’s post on thankfulness. So I asked my children to name what they are thankful for. Here’s a list:

  6. Yeah. I especially loved it when my 8 year old said “trash collectors.” Earlier that day, she and I had a conversation about street sweepers. She was “grossing” and “ewwwing” about that job, and I told her I was glad somebody is willing to do the yucky jobs that have to be done — like sweeping streets, picking up our trash, and we named some more. Obviously, that thought stuck with her — at least until we made this list. It’s nice when that happens — when they listen to what we say and evidence of it pops up later. I call those my “glimmer of hope” moments.
