I am a follower of Christ. I am a learner of God’s Word and a seeker of His Ways.
I am also the wife of a fantastic guy and the mother of six super kids, ranging in age from 13 to 5.
I am a reluctant laundress and maid, a chauffeur, a counselor, an advocate, a frequent apologizer, a cook, a hugger and rocker and kisser-of-boo-boos.
I’m a missionary, a BSF student, a work-in-progress.
I’m also a daughter, sister, friend. I’m a writer, reader, editor, cookie-baker, brownie-maker, coffee drinker, board-game-player. I’m a Survivor-watcher and a chick-flick fan. I am a laugh-er and sometimes cry-er. I’m a swimmer, a walker, a napper, and a Facebook-addict.
Until nearly four years ago, I had been a mountain girl; but I have gotten used to flat land, lapping lakes, and palm trees. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the loss of autumn, but I do love taking the children out to play in January without fussing with coats and hats or even socks!
I’m a quilt collector, a chocolate aficionado, a fan of James Taylor, Sara Groves, Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Amos Lee, Darius Rucker, Andrew Peterson, and Air Supply.
I am a learner, a teacher, and a recipe-maker-upper. I’m also a word-maker-upper, as you may have noticed.
I’m glad you’ve found this little blog. Please make yourself at home here and freely share your thoughts and comments.
You’ve been quiet for a long time. Hope that’s good. I miss your blog posts but pray that all is well with you and your wonderful family.
Amazing to find you!
I just finished my prayers…at the computer, because there were some prayer requests from my bible study on there. We’re doing a study to create an intentional prayer life – something we’ve each lacked consistently. We’re using the 40 days of Lent to create a habit of intentional prayer for us.
A few of us have been struggling with just “how to” pray and I had remembered hearing of a formula to pray from a couple years ago. So I Googled it as “prayer formula” and your blog from 2007 came up. It’s exactly what I need to share tonight with my friends at study.
Thank-you for sharing your words and for helping me this morning!
Peace and blessings to you…Tina, Odessa,FL
Tina, what a wonderful surprise your message was to me today! Thank you for leaving a comment here. It’s so cool that God would use something from a few years ago!
I am James McDermott. My wife Cindy and I have been blessed by God with 13 children. We also homeschool and above all, we are Christians. We recently started a website called Christian family meeting place (www.christianfamilymeetingplace.com). Many who hold our views are isolated and are looking for online fellowship, personal fellowship, churches, and even spouses. I am inviting you to register. It is free. If you’re not interested, that is perfectly fine. May God bless you in all you do for Him. – In the Vine, Jim for Cindy and the rest
P.S. We also publish SALT Magazine. If you would like to check us out go to http://www.saltmagazine.com
Greetings,
If you’re interested in homeschooling, courtship, quiverfull issues, child-raising, politics, and spiritual inspiration, try a free, no obligation issue of SALT Magazine. If you haven’t tried SALT yet, all we need is a name and mailing address to send you a free issue. Or, you can check out our website (saltmagazine.com) and sign up for a free issue online.

I am so happy that I found your site. It gives some great input to some of the quires that I have. Thank you
James, I believe your wife used to subscribe to an email list I also received — years ago! Many years ago, I think you printed something in SALT that I had written. If I’m not mistaken, it was about learning contentment (and leaky roofs, soggy carpets, and flying ants).
Barry, welcome. I’m glad you found us.
